Williamson Assistantship Program Spring 2025
Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of young students while gaining valuable experience in science education? We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for the Williamson Assistantship Program for Spring 2025!
About the Assistantship
As a Williamson Assistant, you'll dedicate 3-5 hours per week working alongside inspiring educators at Bryant Middle School or the Salt Lake Center for Science Education (SLCSE). You'll collaborate with teachers and graduate Williamson Fellows to design dynamic lessons, lead hands-on activities, and plan field trips. Plus, you'll have opportunities to contribute to impactful outreach events for the Geology & Geophysics Department, such as Science Day and GeoFest.
In return for your time and dedication, you'll receive a $1,400 stipend for the semester, along with the rewarding experience of empowering hundreds of middle and high school students to engage with science in meaningful ways.

Send a brief statement (1-2 paragraphs) to holly.godsey@utah.edu, sharing why you’re interested in this assistantship and what you hope to gain from it. Be sure to include your availability to travel to Bryant Middle School or SLCSE during K-12 school hours (9:00 am – 3:00 pm). This program requires a time commitment of 3-5 hours per week, so ensure you’re available at least one day per week during school hours. Students need to be an enrolled major in the Dept. of Geology and Geophysics to apply. Applications are due Dec. 20, 2024.
