Annual Open House

Join us for a night of volcanoes, meteorites, water, earthquakes, minerals, fossils, rock stars, & more!

Do you like gemstones, dinosaurs, or meteorites?  Want to meet real ROCK stars? (Of course you do!)

Do you want to see firsthand how cool new technologies, like augmented reality and drones, are being used in Geology? (You don’t want to miss this!)

Do you ever find yourself in awe over Utah's beautiful geological landscapes? (Don't we all!)

Do you want to learn more about VERY COOL college degrees and careers related to Geology? (Trust me, you do!)

Have a rock you want identified? (Who doesn't!)

If so, this night is for YOU (and your family, friends, and students)!

COST: Free admissions and open to the public.

  • Bring in your rocks for identification by an expert!
  • Buy inexpensive & beautiful geological maps, rocks, t-shirts, and toys!

 

PARKING

Limited, free parking: (If you should receive a parking ticket while parking in one of these lots, please email the ticket to shanna.futral@utah.edu.)

  • Parking garage at 100 S 1455 E (only floors 2-4)
  • U lot north of the Kennecott Engineering Building
  • Two A lots north of A. Ray Olpin University Union

Additional parking in paid lots:

  • South of William Browning Building
  • East of the A. Ray Olpin University Union
